We with differing addictions and behaviours, to life itself, we need an alternative to the recovery norm which is stuck in a destructive rut. Anyone who lives honestly, aligned with truth and with an authentic identity, has differentiated from their trauma-based recovery family and from the conventional norm. Such people are a great asset in recovery to its deepest purpose. The addiction variations are part of evolution’s quest for a coping strategy, to offset the pain and anguish of living within a profoundly sick society.
Changing addictions for the unrecovered is a substitute for inner work. We who have not done our internal homework have a damning effect on recovery. There is a limit to the amount of negativity we can absorb—physically and metaphysically. We need the new template of the stages.
We need a strong, new variation on the theme of being addicted. We need a new orientation towards understanding the addict and their lack of contact with the raging child within.
